Friday's concert will feature cross-disciplinary works of a highly technological nature by Anne La Berge, Raymond Torres-Santos and others whose compositional and performance style is most influenced by their participation in the development of and experimentation with new technology.

June 30, 2001: Re-Place: Home in America

8:00 p.m. at the Walter Reade, Jr. Theater- Storm King School

On Saturday night, flutist and Artistic Director, Barbara Siesel will premier a recital-installation piece workshoped during the 2000 Season at Storm King with composer Sidney Corbett and visual a rtist Bruce Wands. This evening-length work, also on the theme of emigration, will incorporate some of the photographic works on exhibition at the Ogden Gallery with other elements of video, film, and photography. The piece will narrate the story of one family's experience during the Holocaust, and is unique in its mixing of a traditional recital with the tools of new technology and computer animation.

Coordinating "Done In A Day" Programs with the Museum of the Hudson Highlands

A day of music, art-making and natural history in the region. In conjunction with the Museum of the Hudson Highlands, the Storm King Music Festival presents intimate workshops with artists and composers in residence, hiking in the surrounding environment, and visits to the Storm King Art Center, Gomez Mill House and West Point Museum. New York City departures from the Whitney Musem of American Art via the Art Shuttle. Meals for the day and tickets to the Whitney Museum valid through 2001 included.

June 22, 2001: Landscape Painting and Hudson River School

  • Hosted by the Hudson Valley Pastel Society. Over the past three hundred years Kenridge Farm has seen many changes to its landscape based on changes in land use values and the local economy. The guided walk and opportunity to paint in the surrounding countryside will assist participants in seeing what is, what once was, and what might be.
  • Natural History Focus: Native species
  • Hudson Valley Cultural Connection: West Point to view the collection of works by major artists of the Hudson River Valley School & the Storm King Art Center

  • NYC Cultural Connection: Participants will also receive a ticket to the Whitney Museum in order to visit the permanent collection of works by major artists of the Hudson River Valley School. Other possible collaborating institutions include the Museum of the City of New York, The Museum of Natural History, and the New York Historical Society.

June 23, 2001: Changing Places and Adapting to New Environments

June 27 & 28, 2001: Mountains and Metals

  • Visual artist and scupltor, Jeffrey Maron willfocus on the geology, rocks, and metals of the Hudson Highlands/Storm King Mountain area and explore the development of a site specific sculpture/installation.
  • Natural History Focus: Geology of the Hudson Highlands
  • Hudson Valley Cultural Connection: The Storm King Art Center, Collaborative Concepts and the future site of the Dia Art Center in Beacon, NY.
  • NYC Cultural Connection: Dia Art Center, Harvestworks, Thundergulch, and Museum of Natural History to further explore contemporary art and the physical environment.
